FAQ
-
What discs should I have graded? It’s up to you! We are happy to grade any disc you send us. Remember that our scale and criteria are designed to grade collector level discs. Your go-to driver probably won't come back with a high grade. We encourage you to look at all of the different grading services we offer and choose the one that best fits.
-
What does “dual grading process” mean? The dual grading process is our way of making sure your disc gets the most accurate grade possible. Discs that are graded under DGGA Standard and DGGA Premium will go through the grading process twice with separate graders. Final grades are only awarded if the independent grades are sufficiently similar.

Can I just buy the display box without getting my disc graded?Sure!
-
If I submit multiple discs how will it affect my graded return speed? Our current goal is to have graded discs returned within 3 weeks from submission. If submitted discs begin to outpace the rate of consistent grading we will hire and train additional staff.
-
What are my return shipping options? We want you to feel confident in your disc being returned to you. We offer multiple different return shipping options.
-
How should I package my disc to ship to the DGGA?Ultimately, it is your responsibility to package your disc to avoid damage in transit. Based on our extensive disc mailing experience we would recommend a well sized box with bubble wrap and a bagged disc.
-
How does ink affect my disc’s grade?Ink, meaning any markings, writing, ink stamps or pen, added after leaving the factory will count to the detriment of the portion of the disc it affects. This is to say if a disc is inked on the back or front of the flight plate it will count as a detriment to the flight plate score of the disc. The same is true on discs that have been inked on the rim or stamp with their respective grades.
-
My discs are signed, will that count against their grade? Here at the DGGA we believe in the future of disc golf and want our grades to stand the test of time. While the current disc golf community generally considers the value of a signed disc to be less than its identical, unsigned counterpart, this may change in the future. Thus all signed discs will be graded typically and given an ‘s’ indicator next to the grade (ie. 9.5S). This means the disc is a 9.5 without taking the signature as a factor.
-
How will a custom dye or stamp factor into my discs grade?Custom stamps discs will be graded using the same process as a factory stamp. Post factory dyes will be noted on the grade label with a “D” next to the number grade. It will not directly impact the grade
-
Does factory ink count against a disc’s grade? No. Any markings purposefully made to the disc by the manufacturer will not negatively affect the grade. For example, a PFN star destroyer may be penned with a star and the letters DS without affecting the grade.
-
What level of authentication does DGGA provide?Currently, a DGGA grade is purely focused on the perfection of the disc. Graders of the DGGA will use their experience as graders and collectors to identify accidental or maliciously incorrect signatures, molds, or runs to the best of their ability. This does not however, provide an insured authentication. If future grades include official authentication an indication will be added to the grade.
-
Can I open my DGGA graded disc?Technically yes. You can open your DGGA graded disc. However, opening a sealed DGGA graded disc (this includes DGGA Standard and premium) voids the grade. Avoid purchasing and consider tagging us if a disc is being sold as DGGA graded but the enclosure seems damaged or unusual.
