Our professional scale assesses condition consistently.
So how do we assess condition?
DGGA Standard and DGGA Premium grades are determined using a dual grading system, assessing 4 aspects of each disc: flight plate, stamp, rim and true. Discs are graded with a combination of quantitative and qualitative evaluations beyond the precision of the naked eye and feel.
Flight Plate
The front and back of the discs, excluding the rim. Generally the area of the disc that is stamped.
True
DGGA’s term for mold consistency. An advanced truing system is used to inspect the disc from 360 degrees in order to determine the range of difference in mold consistency and look for any warpage.
Stamp
The stamp is inspected both by the naked eye and under magnification. The stamp inspection process looks for scratches, fallouts and other imperfections.
Rim
The outermost edge of the disc. Rim inspection primarily seeks to identify any damage to the disc including scratches, scuffs, ink etc.
Our Scale
A disc with a grade of 9-10 received an above average manufacturing process, sustained essentially no wear during shipping (from the manufacturer, retailer or second hand seller) or storage. The stamp will appear flawless to the naked eye and under enhanced inspection. The disc will also display well above average mold consistency.
A disc with a grade of 7-9 will have many of the same attributes as above. Flaws that appear on a disc with a grade of 7-9 may not be noticeable to the naked eye and may only be visible under enhanced inspection. Flaws that are able to be detected by the naked eye will be minimal and will not detract to the overall appearance of the disc.
A disc with a grade of 5-7 will be visibly and noticeably flawed. Flaws will range from minor to major in nature and will be visible to the naked eye. Flaws may exist in one or more of the grading criteria areas.
A disc with a grade of 5 or less may display obvious flaws in one or more of the grading criteria areas. Theses discs may have heavy damage from the manufacturing process, shipping, storage or use (such as being thrown).
